Brewerton Speedway Set to Host the 27th Running of the Hurricane 100
On October 10, the Brewerton Speedway will be running the 27th famed Hurricane 100, one of the most sought after prizes for 358 DIRTcar Mofided drivers.
Danny Johnson, Larry Wight, Billy Decker, and Brett Hearn have all visited the victory lane at Brewerton. But who will win the 27th running of this historic race is anyone’s guess.
Held each year during Super Dirt Week as one of the most prestigious races for the 358 DIRTcar series, this one event draws fans and drivers from Canada and the Northeast United States.
Last season’s edition of the race saw a packed house of fans from all over the Northeast witness one of the most exciting races in the history of the event, with Canadian driver Steve Bernier coming from the back of the pack to challenge Larry Wight for the win. The duo raced side by side for close to 30 laps giving race fan form both sides of the border a show to remember.
With the 358 series set to hit the track at Brewerton in just under three weeks, teams are busy preparing.
Currently, in the points battle, Erick Rudolph is leading as the 358 series as it heads into Super Dirt Week. Dave Marcuccilli is running a close second in points after his win at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino 100 — his first series win since moving up into the 358 Modified class. Running a close third is Corey Wheeler, who has been setting the bar on consistency, paying off as we roll into the late stages of the series.
The 358 series will first do battle at Utica Rome Speedway followed by Weedsport Speedway during the early venues of Super Dirt Week, both challenging races in themselves, but the Hurricane 100 has for many years been the gem of Super Dirt Week. The 27th running of the event will once again draw out all comers in the 358 class in the hopes of coming home with the win.
