August 19 – Final Race for Cure Sportsman Series La version française ici The final round of the Race for Cure Sportsman series is set to go green on Sunday, August 19, which will reach a climax in the crowning of this year’s series champion. Local businessman Steve Morris, owner of Embrun Auto Value, created the series to help bring awareness to people about cancer and the hardship people have to endure while fighting this disease. Steve has been dedicating this series in memory of his sister, Kelly Morris, who passed away from breast cancer. Morris brought the idea to Cornwall Motor Speedway, owned by Raymond Lavergne, in the winter of 2015. Lavergne was onboard with the idea from the get-go. The Lavergne family was touched by the cause and Raymond committed some proceeds from the track. “This year, Cornwall Speedway has raised over $7,000 to this worthy cause,” Raymond explained. “Steve approached me in early 2015 with his idea and I was committed to help with his cause. It has been very successful so far and I am sure it will continue to grow in the coming years,” he explained.
