A Great Season Ahead for Airborne Park Speedway

In a matter of a few short weeks, the 2018 season will be under way at Airborne Park Speedway. Coming off a successful transitional year in 2017, the track was transformed into a ½ mile-dirt oval. John Walker and his team did an amazing job considering the enormous task. To help with the track preparations last year, John sought help from friend and former owner of Airborne Speedway, Devils Bowl Speedway and Albany Saratoga Speedway, Bruce Richards. “With over 30 years of experience, Bruce did an excellent job and is returning for 2018,” explains Walker. Bruce, “along with myself, worked very hard to provide the best track conditions for racing. All in all the 2017 season was a great success and provided the team at Airborne Speedway the experience to go even bigger for 2018. Photo credit: Don Simpson This season, the track has added several big events to the schedule, growing their program along side there regular show Once again the Super DirtCar Series will return to the fast 1/2-mile track on Tuesday, July 31, for the Battle of Plattsburgh 100. The Unique e-Cigs Sportsman series is also on the slate for 2018. Starting this year, Airborne Park Speedway has teamed up with Mohawk International Raceway to bring a five-race series for Sportsman Modified, sponsored by Unique e-Cigs. The opening race, scheduled for Saturday May 26. This series Is certainly going to draw many of the top Sportsman drivers from both tracks. The Empire Super Sprints will also be back in 2018, not once but twice. The first will be once again working in conjunction with Mohawk International Raceway for the double-header weekend. Mohawk Raceway will be hosting the ESS Sprint series on Friday, June 8, followed by Airborne on June 9. Later in the season, the ESS Sprints will return for the American/Canadian Sprint Car Clash on Sunday, September 23. The biggest news was the announcement that the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will make their debut on the 64 year-old track, Wednesday, July 25. The now half-mile dirt oval will host the best of the best in Sprint Car racing with the likes of Brad Sweet of Kasey Kahne Racing, with 20 World of Outlaws wins, Shane Stewart of Larson Marks Racing with 22 World of Outlaws wins and nine time World of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz, along with a host of others, are sure to put on a spectacular show for fans young and old. This event, located near Montreal, will bring in record numbers of spectators to the track.
