Steve Bernier Charges to Victory at Airborne Park Speedway
The DIRTcar Championship night at Airborne Park Speedway saw Steve Bernier command the night of racing from the start during the Heat Races. The native from Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, showed his dominance winning his Heat race after driving throughout the entire field to take the lead during lap 8 and going on to take the heat win. -- a prelude of things to come for Steve and the 25 team.
Connor Cleveland in the Sportsman class would also prove his dominance in similar fashion, throughout the night’s event.

Once the race resumed, Steve continued to drive his way to the front, capturing the lead from Chris Raabe on lap 26. Bernier would race his way to victory, unchallenged, providing the fans with an amazing show of driving talent. Chris Raabe would come in second place, also capturing the Track Championship, followed by Todd Stone in third.

In the 50-lap Egglefield Ford Modified feature, Steve Bernier would start in the middle of the 18-car field. From the drop of the green flag, Bernier started picking off cars one at a time, slowly working his way to the front, with a few cautions along the way. The most serious caution involved Travis Bruno in the 91NY and John Lutes, Jr., No. 959, in which both got tangled up coming out of turn four. Both drivers walked away unscathed.




Sportsman
The Fidelis Care Sportsman 25-lap feature saw Conner Cleveland drive his way from the 14th place in the starting field to capture the win along with the Track Championship. The native of Corinth, NY, drove a great race, threading his way through several cautions, unscathed to take the lead on lap 17. Conner would be challenged several times late in the race by Bucko Branham in the 20 car, but in the end would go on to take the checkered flag along with the championship. Bucko Branham would come home in second place along with Brad Winters in third.
