CORNWALL – The River Kings have dealt Mario Joly to the Sorel-Tracy Eperviers. In exchange for the defenceman, Cornwall has acquired forward Michael Tessier. The River Kings also acquired a 4th round draft pick from Sorel, while giving up 7th and 9th rounders. Last season with Sorel, Tessier scored 9 goals and 19 assists for 28 points in 36 games. The 6-foot-2 forward also brings a physical element to his game; Tessier had 63 penalty minutes in 2013-14. “I felt we were strong on defence but we needed to get bigger up front,” said River Kings general manager Rick Lalonde. “I really like the size Tessier adds up front.” The 30-year-old Tessier is entering his 7th season in the LNAH. He was a 3rd round pick (76th overall) of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Joly was a victim of Cornwall’s depth on defence. He appeared in only two of the River Kings first six regular season games. Tessier may be in the River Kings lineup as early as this Saturday night, when Cornwall hosts Jonquiere at the Civic Complex.
