Gates are now open for Super DIRT Week XLIII! The early bird inspection started at 10am this morning for all divisions. The first car to pass tech this morning was the #747 machine of Ringoes, PA, Ryan Godown.
Several teams like to pass on Tuesday and get their Super DIRT Week going on the right track and avoid the busy Wednesday. It would not be Syracuse without gray skies as these conditions greeted race teams this morning.
Several key elements are inspected such as overall vehicle and driver’s security, aerodynamics as race teams are very creative coming into DIRT week to maximize speed and stability on track. On the mechanical side, the carburetor, engine and VP Race Fuels samples are taken into account.
Many known drivers such as Matt Sheppard, Billy Decker, Brett Hearn, and Jimmy Phelps along with Quebec drivers like Mario Clair and David Hebert passed under the technical tent.
Some teams were sent back to the drawing board as some adjustments were asked Officials before receiving the green light to compete.
The Super DIRT Week official start will be tomorrow morning at 8am with the camping opening and the second wave of inspection will start at 9 and will continue all day long. It will be the busiest day with nearly 100 cars going through examination. The happy hour session for inspected cars is scheduled for 3pm.
During the evening, Weedsport Speedway will host the DIRTcar 358-Modified and Sportsman Series. Several drivers from Quebec will be on hand. Mario Clair is still a contender in the 358 Series as Mathieu Desjardins is hoping for another great result to keep him on the top spot in Sportsman championship.
The 360nitro is leaving early Wednesday morning to travel to Syracuse as we will start our coverage of all the events surrounding Super DIRT Week XLIII.
