Lee Gill Looking to Capture Another Championship in 2011; Top Five Finish in Brighton Speedway Season Finale

Just one week after arguably the biggest win of his career at the Great Crate Race, Lee Gill returned to Brighton Speedway hoping to score yet another win at the track’s final race of the 2011 season. Gill has had a great deal of success at Brighton this year, winning not only the Great Crate Race, but also the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series race, and a weekly event at the track at earlier this year.

After qualifying heat races were completed, Gill took place in a dash for cash, taking the checkered flag. Gill was hoping to carry that over to a win in the 25 lap main event, but he settled for a solid fourth place finish.

“We really enjoy coming up here to Brighton”, says Gill. “There are a great group of guys here in this class, and we have a lot of fun”.

Gill and his race team will now shift their attention to Friday night’s events at Fulton Speedway where Gill hopes to claim the 2011 Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series championship. Gill currently has a 17 point lead in the series and hope to have a strong run and become the inaugural winner of the series.

The following week, Gill will race the open car against the World of Outlaw Late Model Series at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, New York on Thursday, October 6th.

Once the Rolling Wheels is complete, the 2011 season will be over for Gill. He has had a very successful season, with an unprecedented 15 feature wins, 23 top five finishes and 23 top tens in just 26 starts so far. He claimed the 2011 championship at his hometown Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, is on the verge of the Go Nuclear Late Model championship, and has won an ODLM event at Brighton, and the Great Crate Race at Brighton.

“I really have to thank our sponsors, all of the pit crew, our families, and all the fans that come out to the track and support us each week”, says an appreciative Gill. “We are very fortunate to be able to do this every week, and we would not be able to without everyone that I just mentioned”.
