Potts Gets Top Ten Finish at Can Am; Wins Dash For Cash at Brighton

Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood team had a relatively quiet weekend, with just the usual Friday night show at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park. On Saturday night, the team did travel to their hometown Brighton Speedway, but only for a schedule warm up session in preparation for the upcoming “Topless” Late Model show this weekend.
The night started out at Can Am with a third place run in the qualifying heat race. After reporting back to the pit area, Potts and the team made some changes to the car hoping to make it faster for the 20 lap main event. In the feature, Potts was involved in a lap four wreck, and ended the night with a disappointing tenth place finish.
At Brighton Speedway on Saturday night, the Late Model division was in attendance only for a warm up session getting ready for next week’s “Topless” night at the track where the Late Models will run without a roof. With the cars on hand, the track decided to run a short dash for cash for the Late Models, and Potts started on the front row and took home the win.
This coming weekend, Potts will make his first ever appearance at the Mohawk International Raceway as they host a Crate Late Model Open race. From there, the team will be back in action to close out the regular season at Can Am on Friday night. Brighton Speedway will host the Late Models on a rare Sunday evening with the aforementioned “Topless” night at the track.
“We are looking forward to going to Mohawk Raceway on Thursday night”, says Potts. “We have never been there, but we have heard a lot of great things about the place and we are all excited about going there for the first time”.
