Evoy’s September Frustrations Continue in DIRTcar Series Race at MIR

With a couple weeks off and time to reflect on their accomplishments of the 2011 season that seen Dylan Evoy and the Evoy Racing team produce 14 feature wins, 28 top five finishes, 30 top tens in just 33 races, Evoy was looking to get back on track with a Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series race at Mohawk Raceway. With the track championship at MIR, and 9 feature wins this season, Evoy entered the race as a potential favorite to win his first ever Mr. DIRTcar Series race.

Evoy started the night at Mohawk Raceway with time trials, and he was second fastest in his group, placing him second in his qualifying heat race. Evoy took the lead early, and appeared on his way to the win. On the final lap of the race, something broke on the car, sending Evoy spinning in front of the field and he was hit from behind by another car causing heavy damage to the rear of the car. The damage was severe enough to end the night early.

“It is really disappointing to know that we had such a great car, and now we are not able to continue tonight”, says Evoy. “The last couple weeks have been a little frustrating, but that is the way it goes in racing sometimes, unfortunately”.

The 2011 season will conclude at the Brockville Speedway on Sunday, October 16th.
