Tomkins Looking for Super DIRTcar Series Ride and SDW Opportunity After Engine Woes Sideline the Tuit Owned Team

September 14, 2011

The trials and tribulations of Gary Tomkins continue late in the 2011 season as news broke that engine woes have sidelined Tomkins primary ride for the next couple weeks. Tomkins already missed the Super DIRTcar Series race last weekend at Autodrome Drummond, and unless something comes together in the next 48 hours, Tomkins will also miss the race at Mohawk International Raceway this coming weekend.

“It has been a tough year for us this year”, says Tomkins. “We were doing ok in the Super DIRTcar Series, but we had motor problems develop a couple weeks ago at Lebanon Valley and we do not have a back up motor to continue. At this time we don’t have a ride for the rest of the Super DIRTcar Series, or Super DIRT Week”.

At this time, our next race will be the Outlaw 200 at Fulton Speedway on Saturday, October 1st with the Ray and Debbie Tuit team. With the motor issues, we do not have the funding for any of the series races of Super DIRT Week.

After Fulton, the Ray and Debbie Tuit owned team will be back at Eastern States Weekend at Orange County as well as the final racing events of the season at Charlotte Motor Speedway Dirt Track, but in the meantime, he is currently looking for opportunities to run this Saturday night at Mohawk, and Super DIRT Week, the Super DIRTcar Series race at Brockville, as well as the 2012 racing season and beyond.

Tomkins has won at all levels of the sport, including the 2004 Mr. DIRTcar Modified Champion. He has 17 Super DIRTcar Series victories, and has won 45 Big Block Modified feature events at Canandaigua Speedway, 12 wins at Cayuga County Speedway, 7 wins at Rolling Wheels Raceway, plus multiple wins in the Sportsman division at each track. To contact Gary Tomkins, send him an email at [email protected].

“I guess we will wait and see what happens over the next few weeks and see what comes up”, says Tomkins. “It has been tough this year, but we will continue to work hard, and when we do get an opportunity, we will try and make the best of it”.
