With no Modified racing on the schedule this past weekend, Billy Dunn took the opportunity to run with the Empire Super Sprints. Dunn has made a handful of starts with the ESS club at earlier events at Can Am, as well as Canandaigua Speedway in a car owned by Mike Cushman.

Dunn started the night out with the usual qualifying heats, and finished fourth, locking himself into the 25 lap A-Main event. He was hoping to improve on his best run of the season to date in the Sprint Car, when he finished in 11th at Can Am on July 1st weekend. Dunn started the race from inside the sixth row in the 11th position but slid back to finish 14th at the checkered flag.

“We really enjoy running the Sprint Car, and hope we can do a little more of it next year”, says Dunn. “I have to thank Mike Cushman for letting me to drive it. We will be out one more time with it this season”.

This coming weekend, Dunn will be back in the Big Block Modified as he attends the Super DIRTcar Series at Mohawk Raceway on Saturday night. The following week, Dunn will be in the Sprint Car at Fonda Speedway. From there, Dunn will get ready for Super DIRT Week XL. Dunn will help Matt Billings and his 358 Modified team at Syracuse on the Saturday, October 8th and will race in the Super DIRTcar Series race on Sunday, October 9th. The following week, Dunn will be at Brockville Speedway for their Big Block Modified Series race on Sunday, October 17th.

“It is hard to believe the season is coming to an end already. It doesn’t seem like a year has past since we were last at Syracuse”, says Dunn. “I really have to thank Dad and Uncle Tim (Number One Speed), all of our sponsors and everyone that helps us through the year”.

Dunn is proud to race under the banner of American Traditions Motorsports for his second full season. With the support of ATM, Pemco Contracting, Number One Speed, Fast Lube of Watertown, Frosty’s Ice Cream, SUNY Canton, Jiffy Dumpster, Finger Lakes Auto Machine, North Country Custom, R & D Fabrication and Bicknell Racing Products, 2011 will be a very exciting season for Billy Dunn.
