Evoy Scores Another Perfect Weekend Giving Him 14 Wins in 2011

August 29, 2011

The month of August has been an incredible month for Dylan Evoy and the Evoy Racing team. With eight events throughout the final full month of the season, Evoy posted an incredible seven feature wins. His only blemish on an otherwise perfect month came at Brockville the previous weekend, where he charged from the rear of the field after a mid-race crash to get back up to third.

Evoy ended the outstanding month with events at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday. At Mohawk, Evoy has already clinched the 2011 track championship, and also held the point lead in the Frenchie’s Built Ford Tough Sportsman Series title and had won the first two of the three this season. While Evoy sits at the top of the point standings at Brockville, the battle for the championship is all but over, as Evoy held a slim six-point advantage going into the weekend.

The battle for the 2011 Track Championship at Mohawk Raceway was over before the night began on Friday, but Evoy still had some unfinished business to take care of, as he was looking to post another victory and sweep the Frenchie’s Built Ford Tough Sportsman Series and claim that championship. He started from the 11th position, and survived contact on the initial green flag. The contact didn’t slow him down at all, as he cruised through the field. By lap nine he was up to second, and took over the top spot just two laps later. Evoy led the remaining laps and picked up his ninth win of the year at Mohawk Raceway, and took home the Frenchie’s Built Ford Tough Sportsman championship. In victory lane, Evoy noticed that the right front shock tower was nearly severed off after the contact on the start of the race.

“We were very fortunate that we didn’t have more damage at the start of the race”, acknowledged Evoy. “The right front shock tower was almost sheared off, and that would have been the end of our night”.

At Brockville on Saturday night, Evoy started the night with the usual preliminary qualifying heats. He started from the eighth position and advanced to third in the eight lap event. In the 25 lap Sportsman main event, Evoy started from 13th place, and by lap eight he was into the top ten. Just three laps later, he was into the top five and continue to move towards the front of the pack. Evoy took over the top spot on lap 19 and never looked back claiming his fourth Brockville feature win of the season and 14th overall.

Evoy’s 14 feature wins this season is the most of any DIRTcar Sportsman driver in the Northeast. Evoy has posted feature wins at Mohawk Raceway on nine occasions, he has four feature wins at Brockville, and also won at Can Am earlier this season.

“We have had a great season, and hopefully we can finish it off by winning the Brockville Speedway championship again this year”, says Evoy.

Just like last season, the Brockville championship will come right down to the final night. Evoy holds a eight-point lead going into the final night of points this coming Saturday night.

This coming weekend Evoy will be at Mohawk Raceway for a rare Thursday night show. On Saturday night, he will be at Brockville Speedway hoping for a repeat of last year as he won the race and claimed the track championship on the final night of the season.

After this weekend, Evoy will review the schedule at other tracks and decide how they will finish out their 2011 season. They will be back at Mohawk one last time on Friday, September 16th for a Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman event, and will be at Brockville on October 15th for their Mr. DIRTcar race.
