The differences in the results at Cornwall Kart Track compared to the results at Brockville are like night and day for 11-year-old Jarrett Herbison as he battles along in his first season of Jr. Sportsman 2 Go Kart Racing at both Brockville and Cornwall Speedway. The team’s goals at the start of the season were to win at both tracks and battle for the championship at both places. Herbison is locked in a tight battle for the championship at Cornwall, while struggles at Brockville, not to mention lack of events due to rain have plagued him so far in 2011.

At Cornwall Speedway on Tuesday night, Herbison took the checkered flag for the third time this season. Cornwall has easily become Herbison’s favorite track to race on.

“I am not sure why we run so well here, but not so much at Brockville”, says the young Herbison. “We have had a hard time getting underway at Brockville as it seems to rain every week. Hopefully we can get back there tomorrow and get a win, and keep pace with Dad”, adds Herbison, referring to the 3 wins at Cornwall and 1 win at Brockville that his Dad Chris Herbison has this season on the big track in the DIRTcar Sportsman division.

The night started out well for Herbison at Brockville on Wednesday, picking up the win in his qualifying heat. With a starting spot on the outside of the front row for the main event in the Jr. Sportsman 2 division, Herbison was hopeful for a good clean race and a strong run. The frustrations of the night started early, as Herbison got spun out on the very first lap going into turn two. The end result was a ninth place finish.

This coming week, Herbison will be back at Cornwall Speedway on Tuesday night, and then try again for a win on Wednesday at Brockville Speedway Kart track.
