Potts Gets Top Ten Finish in ODLM Race at South Buxton Raceway

Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team went into the last week planning to run their open motor car at Fonda and Utica Rome on Wednesday and Thursday, Can Am on Friday with their Crate Late Model, and then back in the open motor car on Saturday with the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series at South Buxton Raceway near Chatham, Ontario. A last minute decision kept the team home from Fonda and Utica Rome, while rain forced Can Am Motorsports Park officials to cancel Friday night’s events. On Saturday, the team made the five-hour haul to South Buxton Raceway.



South Buxton Raceway, known for its unique D-shape was the site for round two of the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series. The night started off well for Potts, finishing second in his qualifying heat race. In the main event, Potts started from inside row three in the fifth position, and ran fourth for much of the race before getting into the wall and cutting a tire down. After a quick pit stop by the Fowl Mood Racing team, Potts was back on the track and drove back up to the eighth position at the checkered flag.



“This is a pretty racy track with multiple lanes”, says Potts. “I really enjoyed racing here. It was really dry and slick, but it was a lot of fun. It is unfortunate that we had that flat tire, as we certainly had a top five car here”.



This coming weekend, Potts will be at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night and back to Brighton Speedway on Saturday for some hometown racing. Going into August, Potts currently sits fifth in points at Can Am, fifth in points at Brighton, and seventh in points after two of the four events in the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series. The ODLM Series will resume on Saturday, August 20th at Brockville Speedway and will conclude the following night at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday, August 21st.
