After going nearly three weeks without a victory, Dylan Evoy and the Evoy Racing team were anxious to get back on track and back to victory lane. As usual, they had events planned at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night as they continue to have a convincing lead in the point standings. Brockville Speedway was on the team’s radar for Saturday night, as they look to get back on top of the point standing and defend their 2010 Sportsman championship.

At Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, Evoy began the race from deep in the field and avoided an early race accident to move into the top five. He continued to advance through the field and was up to second in the final laps. Just when it looked like he was going to have to settle for his third straight second place run at MIR, lapped traffic held up the leader, and Evoy made the winning pass less then 100 feet from the finish line.

“I have never been involved in anything like that before”, says Evoy. “I thought we had second place as the white flag came out, and next thing I know the leader is slowing up with the lap cars, and we were able to get the win”.

Brockville Speedway was up next, and Evoy began the night with his qualifying heat race. After starting at the back of his qualifying heat, he was able to get to the front in a hurry and took the checkered flag. The 25 lap Sportsman feature was up next, and Evoy rolled off the starting grid from outside of the sixth row in the 12th position. When the first caution came out on lap three, he was into the top ten. At halfway, he was now into the top five, running in the fourth spot. The final caution of the race came out on lap 21, and Evoy was now in third. On the restart he moved to second and that is where he finished.

This coming weekend Evoy will be back at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night. Brockville Speedway does not have the Sportsman on the schedule, so the team may head west up the 401 to Brighton Speedway as they host the DIRTcar Sportsman on Saturday night.
